A Young Female Needs Treatment for Her Mental Illness, For Her Drug Addiction and Alcohol Dependency, and For Her Relationship and Love Issues

June 10th, 2010 · No Comments · lonely and desperate articles

About seven weeks ago I heard about a twenty-seven-year-old female named Rachael who is bipolar and who is also drug and alcohol dependent. I remember hearing that under such circumstances, a person needs to get treatment for both medical situations and that mental health problems and dependency tend to occur in the same individual. Additionally, I remember hearing that a history of harmful drinking, drug addiction, and/or mental health concerns many times happen in the same family.

Obviously, Rachael is so defeated by both of her medical problems and by her love and relationship issues that she, for all intents and purposes, has little or no motivation to do much of anything. What is especially sad about this is that earlier in her life, Rachael finished three years of college. Rachael’s situation makes me question if she is an example of an individual who has to hit the very bottom before he or she gets drug and alcohol dependency counseling that results in long-term recovery.

The Need For a Doctor She Trusts and a Rehab Protocol She Can Believe In

If I were in contact with Rachael I could advise her about several websites and blogs that could possibly help her find information about addiction and alcoholic behavior, significant chemical dependency information, facts about alcoholism and drugs, information about addiction symptoms and alcoholism warning signs, and relationship info. From my vantage point, however, Rachael needs to locate a healthcare professional she trusts and a counseling protocol she can believe in and follow through over the long haul. I could be mistaken but it seems to make sense that Rachael probably needs to admit the fact that she cannot drink in moderation or use drugs if she wants to get sober, remain sober, and start on the route to long-term sobriety.

I am mindful that there are a number of recently developed physician-prescribed drugs that can help Rachael avoid an alcohol or a drug relapse, help her through the alcohol and drug detox process, and help her through her withdrawal symptoms. Clearly it would be in Rachael’s best interests if she knew about these medications.

It is apparent that Rachael needs to acknowledge the fact that there is utterly nothing beneficial about excessive and careless drinking and drug addiction and that messing around with one or both situations is the path to shattered relationships, a premature death, legal problems, financial difficulties, deteriorating health, and poor work and school performance.

The Significance of Recovery Groups Such as Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous

There are more likely than not quite a few persons such as friends, other people, and family members who would like to help Rachael but she probably would experience greater acceptance from a support group such as Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous instead of listening to people who rarely drink or who have never used drugs.

When People Do Things They Like and About Which They Are Zealous

There’s a philosophical attitude that contends that individuals who do things they like and something about which they are dedicated arrive at an amazing place in life. Stated differently, when people do what they enjoy, they almost never go through an uneventful life or boredom. If they get involved in something that is worthwhile, what is more, they become more complete and experience more satisfaction and delight in life and in their relationships.

To me, this sounds like the exact opposite of a life that is centered in chemical dependency because such a lifestyle removes the happiness and delight that life offers.

Because Rachael doesn’t have the resolve to achieve much of anything in her life, it is evident that she definitely needs a little bit of hope for a better life. And the unfortunate thing is that hope is all around Rachael if she could only get to the point in life to get the therapy she needs for her manic depression and drug addiction and alcoholism and stay with her treatment routine.

Happiness and Love, Positive Change, Self Esteem, and a Wonderful Life Are a Reality

Rachael is clearly too young to be dejected in life. She doesn’t realize this right now but if she can learn how to abstain from drugs and alcohol through drug and alcohol rehabilitation and get the treatment she needs for her mental health issue, she can turn her life around and start living with passion, direction, and with self-respect.

Love and happiness, a wonderful life, self esteem, and affirmative change are certainly a reality for Rachael if only she could get motivated to get the medical treatment she needs, follow through with her treatment program, live her life in a healthy and sober manner, and develop a more positive attitude about life.
