An Alcohol Addicted Individual Enrolls in Rehab, Receives Alcohol Detox and Treatment for His Alcoholism and His Depression, and Begins to Improve Upon His Relationship With His Girlfriend

Barry used to talk big to his buddies how he could stay employed at a challenging and fulltime job and get intoxicated just about every night. Sadly, after engaging in this unhealthy lifestyle for just about six years, he began to experience several alcohol related issues.

Barry Begins to Exhibit Numerous Alcohol Related Difficulties

As an illustration, he had a very hard time getting up for work because he felt so little energy when he got up. Moreover, just about every morning Barry suffered through an appalling hangover. In a word, the combination of his lack of energy and his hangovers did not make it easy for him to get up and feel motivated to go to work. To make matters worse, nearly a week ago he received his second driving under the influence arrest in the past five months.

To compound things further, at his job his last two work appraisals were less than satisfactory. And finally, his four-year relationship with his girlfriend had gotten worse due to his depression, lack of patience, angry outbursts, and his financial difficulties.

Though Barry was only twenty-eight years old, he simply started to look like he was in his late forties. Unfortunately, this is what careless drinking can do to an individual. And in all candor he grasped the fact that he was going through the adverse effects of alcohol abuse or alcohol addiction and that he was too young to throw away his life to hazardous and irresponsible drinking. So at first he tried to drink in moderation. Sadly, he soon understood that he lost his self control after consuming his first drink. More to the point, after his first drink he invariably proceeded to get inebriated. Since this was a circumstance that was repeated every single time he drank, this bothered him greatly. In actual fact, he started to wonder if he was displaying some of the signs of alcoholism and alcohol abuse.

Barry Decides Schedule an Appointment to See His Family Doctor

After articulating his excessive alcohol drinking and his irresponsible and unhealthy drinking with his girlfriend, he finally made up his mind to schedule an appointment to see his family doctor. When Barry saw his healthcare practitioner, he genuinely declared that he has been abusing alcohol, that he may be displaying alcoholic signs, and that he wants to stop drinking. He then declared that drinking responsibly and in moderation doesn’t work well for him and, consequently, he wants to learn how he can create an alcohol-free lifestyle.

Barry also told his healthcare professional about his depression and how this mental health problem was negatively affecting his relationship with his girlfriend. His physician referred Barry to Doctor Thomas, an alcohol and drug addiction specialist, who motivated Barry to enroll in an alcohol and drug rehab clinic as an in-patient for alcohol detox and alcohol rehab. The good news is that Barry would also be able to get medical attention for his depression at this treatment center.

Quitting Drinking Was the Best Decision Barry Had Ever Made

After four months of comprehensive rehab, Barry left the in-patient treatment clinic and continued his recovery via outpatient therapy and via going to local Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. Encouraged to change his life in a more productive manner, Barry bought some vitamins at a health store and a cookbook. He then joined a gym and began working out three or four times per week. Within nine months Barry was a new individual. He now looked younger than he was, he wasn’t depressed anymore, he was in shape, he was eating nutritious meals, and most significant of all, he remained sober for several months. He also became more patient, he didn’t resort to angry outbursts, and he became a more loving person in his relationship with his lady friend. In a word, stopping drinking was the best decision Barry had ever made.
