Using a midwife is one of the options in delivering a baby. Usually this method is done at home.And this method is also done naturally.Natural means that there are no drugs administered to a mother during her delivery.  There are many women who have chosen this method for many benefits.Some benefits they can get are that no drugs are administered during the delivery and that the delivery is done in their homes. So we  shall look at the role of a midwife in delivery.

So first of all let’s define what a midwife is.  A midwife is a person who assists women during delivery.They are not usually doctors.  But as a San Diego licensed midwife there is many other things that I know a midwife does.Of course, they are not as medically qualified as doctors but there are lots of things that they can do that can help pregnant mothers.

Most of their duties concentrate on assisting the delivery.But they also give advices and assist during the whole 9 months of pregnancy. Of course the biggest job of the midwife is during delivery.This is more true when the delivery is done in the home of the pregnant mother.Of course, midwives can help in the hospitals.But when the delivery is done at home their responsibility is much larger. As I mentioned earlier as a San Diego midwife although not usually a doctor or nurse they do have training medically.This training will help them in case an emergency happens.

So those are some of the roles of a midwife.As we have seen, they also have a lot of responsibility when it comes to assisting mothers.But most midwives have done their jobs well.They have been helping a lot of pregnant mothers since time immemorial.And they will help more as the practice become more popular in the years to come.
